The 2010 Rails to riches event at Killington (AKA THE BEAST) killed it, with a huge crowd and 60 competitors showing up, 30 riders and 30 Skiers. The weather was decent, with good snow and comfortable temps. For those who got cold, the event staff set up a couple of bonfires where people could warm up. The guys at Killington had a nasty setup including a straight downrail, a standard down-kink-down bar, and a down box with a good sized kink at the bottom. Dylan Dragotta of Burton snowboards destroyed it, taking first place and the $3k that comes with it, which he plans on spending on building his jeep and filming a new video part.

Second place was taken by Shaun Murphy of Forum, followed closely by Tyler Lynch of Caked snowboards. For women, first was taken by Laura Rogoski with Meghan Dorsey and Cassandra Herbes com ing in second and Third, respectively. John “LJ” Strenio was named winner once again this year for the skiers. “I felt good, I was feeling real clean, this was the first comp of the year and I felt real comfortable, I got lucky…” said Strenio, talking about his riding in the event.

The riders all seemed happy about the setup, with Shaun Murphy saying “the setup was super fun, you get to go back and forth from all three rails and all three rails were super solid, so it was really really fun”. Over all, the event went off without a hitch, awarding New England’s best riders and skiers with $15k total, which makes it the biggest Pro-Am event for the Early east coast season. All the skiers and riders that came out killed it, with a display of some of the best riding Steez magazine has seen in a long time. Check out the full event photos here.
