It’s official, Jeremy Jones is now riding for POC Helmets.
Jones anchors a POC snowboard team which already includes the 2011 Freeride World Tour gold medalist Mitch Tölderer, silver medalist Flo Orley and 2010 Scandinavian Big Mountain Champion Niklas Hollsten.
“POC has shown its commitment and success in developing the highest performance snow sports products on the market and I am both excited and proud to be part of the global snowboard team POC is creating,” comments Jones.
“Jeremy Jones is synonymous with big mountain and backcountry snowboarding”, says POC Founder and CEO Stefan Yetterborn. “Anytime you mention his name to other pros or influencers in the action sports industry anywhere in the world, you get the same response and respect. That’s the type of athlete you want anchoring your team and product.”
Skate of the Art 3 opened last night at The Dark World Gallery on Grafton Street in Worcester, MA. Dark World hosted the show which was an artist collaboration through Concrete Wave Skate Shop and Vans. Dozens of local artists were given a blank canvas (of shoes) to create whatever they wanted on over the course of a few months. About 30 shoes were on display at the opening last night and not one pair was remotely alike. Proceeds from the silent auction, which will continue throughout the rest of the month, will benefit the Worcester Animal Rescue League. How can you go wrong with that? You must be present to make a bid, bids start at just $25. Check out the photos of some of last nights standouts and go check it out for yourself. Definitely worth the trip!
Dark World Gallery and Concrete Wave of Worcester are hosting Skate of The Art 3 this Saturday night from 7-10pm. In conjunction with Vans, area artists have transformed their own pairs of shoes into works of art for auction and benefit the Worcester Animal Rescue League. NO doubt there’s gonna be some sick kicks at this show. Look for pics after the show.
What exactly is it that you do?
I am currently the lead designer for all soft goods categories at the Rome Snowboard Design Syndicate. From Outerwear to t-shirts, caps, bags, hoodies and gloves I am responsible for graphics. In the past few years I have started working on the product design which I’m excited about. It’s a small group of designers here so I jump on catalog sh*t from time to time and hard goods product gets thrown my way once in a while.
Currently I am Art Directing The Shred Remains which has been really fun and definitely a highpoint in my career thus far! Things are coming together really well, be sure to check out the teaser that should be out now.
What is your favorite part of your job?
It’s all great! I love riding with the crew. I get to travel a bit which is nice. I really just love making things. The most rewarding part of my job is riding at the mountain and seeing a young kid riding in a piece of product I made. I remember as a kid saving up 20 bucks and going to NuWave in Laconia, NH to buy a t-shirt. It was such a process looking through every t-shirt and deciding on the best one. I get stoked when kids choose to spend their hard earned money on things I make. Makes my day.
If you could go or ride anywhere in the world where would it be?
Hmmm, well these days I really enjoy riding at Stowe on a secret powder day with a good crew from the office. We ride most mornings during the season and once in a great while we’ll get these storms that sneak in thru the night and dump a foot or more of fresh. I don’t think it gets much better than riding with friends at your home mountain on a secret powder day.
I’ve been trying to get an AK trip together with some old friends from my Steamboat days but im not sure if I’ll ever get the time and money together.
On a lighter note, what’s one thing you can’t live without?
Cigarettes, funny that the one thing I can’t live without will eventually kill me..
Who’s your favorite super hero? If you could have any power in the world what would it be?
Favorite super hero? I don’t know… I’m not into magic powers and sh*t, but it would be nice to light a smoke on a windy chairlift without f**king with a lighter.
And last but not least, what’s the last thing you ate today? Was it good?
My lady and I walked down to Ben and Jerry’s to get an ice cream (its hot as f**k here). It was great until my dog threw up all over Church St… and I lost my appetite.
You’re invited to one awesome party! Snap Infusion, makers of SUPERCANDY, are hosting a launch party and mini ramp contest on Saturday August 27th at Surfside 5 in Salisbury, MA.
