PowderJet Snowboards have announced that they’re bringing their popular “Build Your Own Snowboard” workshops to four locations across the country in February of 2016. Workshops will take place in Steamboat Springs, CO; Jackson Hole, WY; Salt Lake City, UT; and Encinitas, CA. Class participants will spend two days designing, shaping, and building a custom snowboard under the direction of PowderJet founder Jesse Loomis. Once the weekend is over, participants will have a one of a kind wooden snowboard with a Ptex base and steel edges that’s ready to shred. Participants will also receive a limited edition t-shirt and print, designed by artist/team rider Scott Lenhardt. Space is limited. For more details and to sign up, please visit powderjets.com/speed-of-sawdust.
Founded in Vermont in 2009, PowderJet Snowboards builds wooden powder boards on a custom basis. Their boards are hand-built from start to finish, and are designed for backcountry and powder riding. In 2014, PowderJet became the first snowboard company to offer board building classes, teaching workshops at the shop they share with Grain Surfboards on the Maine coast.

Playboy Enterprises, Inc. and Burton recently announced the latest Burton x Playboy snowboard collection, featuring vintage Playboy centerfolds and artwork by acclaimed tattoo artist Chris Nunez.

Nunez had this to say about the collab:
“It’s been an honor to work on this project with great friends and family. And to work on such iconic photos for Playboy was the icing on the cake for me.”

The innovators behind snowboarding documentary “The Art of FLIGHT,” have released a sneak peek of iconic snowboarder Travis Rice’s highly-anticipated return film “The Fourth Phase.” The film’s teaser trailer marks the world’s first glimpse into the project, which began production in 2013 and has been kept tightly under wraps until today.
“It has taken everything I have learned over my life to prepare for what the past several years have challenged us with. Immersion into the winter wilderness with a few trusted comrades and a vow to not ride anything we have ever ridden before has made this the most exciting project yet,” said Rice. “We have a team of some of the most committed riders, and a production crew that has gone all in. We’re headed back into the field soon, but before we go dark again we wanted to share a taste of what we’ve been working on.”
Watch manufacturers ‘Swatch’ recently put out a watch with big mountain snowboarding legend Jeremy Jones. Jones is the man who opened up the world’s biggest mountains to snowboarders willing to hike, not ride a helicopter, to the top before riding down the mountain. A pro snowboarder for more than 20 years, the Swatch Proteam athlete was recently featured in his big mountain snowboarding film trilogy titled “Deeper, Further and Higher.”
In terms of his collaboration with Swatch, Jeremy had this to say:
“My goal was to create a timeless, reliable, classic adventure watch. I have a ton of respect for the history of Swatch, and now to be a part of it is really exciting. After all, timing is everything. Letting nothing get in the way of your goals when the timing is right, and being patient, backing off when the timing is off. This dance with time is the key to success in life and in the mountains.”
Jones’ new signature Swatch “Deeper, Further, Higher” is an exclusive limited and numbered edition of only 150 pieces. Each numbered piece in this exclusive limited edition comes bundled with Jeremy Jones’s new book, “No Words For the Way Down.” The book presents a collection of amazing photographs, stories and behind-the-scenes adventures from Jones’ trilogy of films. It captures his thoughts and words from the last five years and invites readers to join him on a personal journey into the world of big mountain boarding.

“Travel to India to shred one of the last frontiers of snowboarding with Fredi Kalbermattern. Having discovered the most amazing riding terrain in India’s Manali, the Absinthe crew headed back to the Himalayas this year in the company of Fredi Kalbermatten, a master of backcountry freestyle.
